About Gum Sculpting
In recent years, laser dentistry has superseded many traditional dentistry practices, making treatments more precise and less painful. This newer style of dentistry utilizes intense beams of light projected by a dental laser that can be used to perform a wide variety of treatments, including soft tissue shaping and removal. Redlands, CA dentist, Dr. Steve Tatevossian, uses advanced laser technology for laser gum sculpting, gum contouring, and periodontal plastic surgery. Dental lasers are excellent for reducing bleeding and post-treatment recovery times.
Some of the benefits associated with laser dentistry include:
- Faster healing and tissue regeneration
- Preservation of more of the natural tooth
- Reduced bleeding during and after treatment
- Reduced need for anesthesia
- Reduced need for stitches and sutures
- Reduced risk of bacterial infections after procedures
Our office at King House Dental Group offers laser gum sculpting, and after this treatment, the smile looks more attractive and healthy, and the patient's oral health is dramatically improved.
"I Really Enjoy going to King House Dental... The staff are really friendly and honest on every visit."- P.B. / Yelp / Jan 17, 2017
"Had my first visit with Dr T yesterday. I'm a very nervous patient, which is why it took me 3 years to make the appointment! Dr T and his staff went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable. I need to have some work done but he made it seem like no big deal. Dr T is very personable and knowledgeable. He does a very thorough exam. I'll post again after the work is done. I definitely recommend this dental office!"- S.V. / Facebook / Jan 12, 2019
"Love this dentist and staff everyone is friendly, i feel they are honest. My husband and i have been coming for a few years now. My kids pediatric dentist got bought out by western dental and They said my kids had all kinds of cavities and needed major work which was a ridiculous amount. So i switched my kids here, and My son had NO cativites, my daughter did have 2 but thats it she needed NO major work. My kids are much happier here."- E.N. / Yelp / Jan 10, 2019
"I am a first-time patient at King House dental group because I procrastinated about going to the dentist. My experience with King House dental group has really eliminated my fears and reluctance of going to the dentist. I started having some pain in my gums so I called. Not only does the place run like clockwork, everyone on staff was super friendly and informative. I left without needing major work done and with an understanding of what I can do in very simple terms to make sure I'm taking excellent care of my teeth and also avoiding bad things from happening. Dr. T was simply as professional and cool as it gets. I've found my new home for a dentist. Definitely worth a call."- L.B. / Yelp / Jan 10, 2019

What to Expect
Dr. Tatevossian generally uses a local anesthesia prior to performing laser gum contouring. Different types of dental lasers have been created to treat different conditions. Each laser uses a different wavelength of light, which predicates its best use. The most common types of dental lasers are carbon dioxide lasers and diode lasers, which are usually employed to treat soft tissue problems. Dr. Tatevossian will decide which type of laser is best to use after conducting X-rays and a thorough examination.
The laser beam is extremely bright, and special glasses will be provided to protect the eyes. The beam is directed at the affected area and carefully dissolves the soft tissue. This procedure is far less invasive than surgically reducing the gumline. The gum tissue will be removed as much as necessary to create a natural, even look.
After gum contouring, there will be some minor swelling and discomfort. Patients should adhere to a soft food diet and not over exert themselves for the first 24 hours. Dr. Tatevossian will usually see patients about 7 – 10 days after the procedure to ensure the gums have healed properly and there is no infection. The healing process is quick and patients will notice their results immediately.
Dental insurance may cover some of the cost if this periodontal related plastic surgery procedure is medically necessary, but not if the procedure is only for cosmetic reasons. Our office can contact your insurance company to determine your exact coverage.
