Nitrous Oxide Sedation Overview
Are you one of the millions who get very anxious at that thought of a dentist coming near you with a drill? Does the phrase 'root canal' cause you to go into panic mode? At King House Dental in Redlands, CA, we offer the option of safe sedation dentistry. Nitrous oxide sedation, for example, is used for routine procedures, such as dental exams and cleanings, as well as during more complex treatments, such as fillings, crowns, and dental implants. Also referred to as laughing gas, Nitrous oxide is a gentle gas that is inhaled by the patient through a nosepiece shortly before and throughout their procedure. Sedation dentistry is a safe and comfortable way for you to avoid the anxiety that is often felt in the dentist chair. At King House Dental, we are closely monitored to ensure we follow regulations set forth by our governing body, the American Dental Association.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation Treatment
Prior to the procedure, the dentist will administer the nitrous oxide to through inhalation tube placed in the nose. The gas will continue to be administered throughout the procedure with the dentist and his staff monitoring and adjusting the level of sedation as needed. Nitrous oxide will help the patient remain relaxed and calm throughout the entire procedure, while remaining awake and coherent enough to follow the dentist’s instructions. Following the procedure, the nitrous oxide is turned off and the effects wear off quickly.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation Estimate of Cost
The cost of nitrous oxide varies based on the amount used during the procedure, but it is generally inexpensive. A large majority of our patients use this type of sedation dentistry and find the low cost well worth it.
