Sealants are an easy procedure to guard against cavities and decay. Sealants are thin, flexible plastic coatings that can be put on the tops of the back teeth (molars and premolars). After they're placed, sealants block out food particles, bacteria, plaque, and tartar to further prevent several problems, such as cavities. Sealants may stay on for years with proper care that includes a good home oral hygiene routine.
Ideal candidates for dental sealants are patients who are prone to developing oral diseases or cavities. Most often, dental sealants are recommended for young children and teens who may not have a regular oral hygiene routine.
The application of dental sealants is a fast, simple treatment that generally requires no anesthesia or sedation, which makes it a great procedure for all ages.
During your consult, Dr. Tatevossian will first examine your teeth to determine if sealants are a good treatment for you. Prior to the application, your teeth will be cleaned and polished to remove tartar, plaque, and bacteria.
Then, Dr. Tatevossian will brush on the sealant and set the material using a special light. After the application, Dr. Tatevossian will ensure that the sealant has settled correctly
After the treatment, you will be free to resume your normal activities. It's important that you develop a regular oral hygiene routine, including brushing two times every day, flossing, and mouthwash. You should avoid putting pressure on your teeth or eating foods that are sticky.
Sealants are a preventive treatment, and many dental insurance companies pay for part of the cost in patients under a certain age. Coverage will vary, particularly in adults so we will determine your exact coverage by talking to your insurance company and then calculating your costs.
King House Dental Group takes many different payment methods, and we can help you with medical financing if needed.
