The health of your gums is very important since problems, like periodontal disease and oral cancer, can affect both your oral and general health without proper treatment. At King House Dental Group in Redlands, CA, we utilize laser technologies to treat a broad array of gum (periodontal) difficulties.
Laser gum treatments may also be used in certain cosmetic procedures that will help sculpt the gums or lessen the look of a smile that looks "gummy." Schedule an appointment with Dr. Tatevossian to learn more about laser gum treatments at our office in Redlands, CA.
There are lots of cases in which a laser gum treatment could be used. If you have gum disease, the laser may be employed to remove plaque and bacteria that are deep in the pockets of your gum tissue. For a biopsy, the laser is used to cut out tissue in the needed region. Laser gum therapy may also be helpful if you want to eliminate excess gum tissue and also increase the visible enamel for a more attractive smile.
Done in our office, a laser gum treatment generally only needs a local anesthetic. However, other sedation choices could be available if you have fears or anxiety. Before your treatment, Dr. Tatevossian will go over exactly what you should expect during the procedure, whether you're having treatment for periodontal disease, getting an oral biopsy, having crown lengthening, or undergoing aesthetic gum contouring.
The laser reduces bleeding and often eliminates the need for stitches.
Dr. Tatevossian will give you post-treatment care instructions before you're discharged to leave. Since your mouth may be tender or swollen, you might want to stick to soft food or liquid diet for a couple of days.
For gum disease therapy or crown lengthening, you may want to make another appointment so Dr. Tatevossian can evaluate your recovery and determine if a second treatment is needed. If a biopsy was performed, you may have to return to our office to receive your results. If oral cancer is discovered, Dr. Tatevossian will go over your treatment choices and next steps.
As soon as your laser gum plan is created, Dr. Tatevossian will go over the costs. King House Dental Group takes many payments, including medical financing. For those who have dental insurance, we will contact your provider to determine your coverage and personal expenses.
